Track 3 - The Power of Data

Data helps us be results-driven by figuring out what does and doesn’t work. It then helps us parlay those insights into real organizational improvements. Use this track to unleash data’s power, ignite transformation, and convert your company into a lean, mean, data-driven machine. Start with the data fundamentals, work your way up into the IoT-connected supply chain, get the lowdown on cybersecurity, and then hear how it all ties together to create a cycle of continuous improvement.

Track 3 Sessions

  • Session 1
    Using Data to Drive Decision-Making

    Robert Konermann

    Rockwell Automation

    Monday: 9:00AM - 10:00AM
    Location: White Pines

No longer a mysterious buzzword or a novel business tactic, data-driven decision making relies on a firm’s ability to gather internal data and then translate it into business success. Big Data, for instance, contains a wealth of valuable insight and produces tangible results, but effectively compiling, analyzing, and communicating that data requires a dedicated approach. In this session, you’ll learn how to fully leverage data to drive decision-making, filter out the buzzwords and focus on the business value of good data. Start simple, and enjoy the results.

  • Session 2
    Designing Effective Data Visualizations

    Noah Iliinsky

    ComplexDiagrams.com

    Monday: 10:15AM - 11:15AM
    Location: White Pines

Statistical formulas, spreadsheets, and graphs may fascinate data sciences teams who are familiar with the details, but to the everyday manager, data has historically been nothing more than sets of lifeless numbers. To ensure optimal results within a warehouse, this data needs to become easily understandable — possible through the right data visualization techniques and brought to life with a complementary narrative. At this session, you’ll be introduced to data visualizations and how to implement these tactics into your distribution center.

  • Session 3
Connecting the Supply Chain Dots with IoT

    Kieran McLoughlin

    Schneider Electric

    Monday: 11:30AM - 12:30PM
    Location: Innovation Hub P1

An efficient supply chain relies on comprehensive real-time data for better communication, information-sharing, and visibility to ultimately reduce risk. From a market-driven perspective, the agile supply chain provides better control, reduces excess inventory and energy consumption, lowers logistics costs, increases responsiveness to customer needs, and enables better business decisions. In this presentation, you’ll hear how the IoT-connected supply chain enables real business value and checks off all of these boxes.

  • Session 4
Protecting Your Global Supply Chain Data

    Bindiya Vakil

    Resilinc

    Monday: 2:15PM - 3:15PM
    Location: Innovation Hub P1

When organizations think about security, their focus is usually on securing networks, software, and digital assets against cyberattacks and data breaches. But what many don’t understand is that their global supply chains are also vulnerable to both cybersecurity and data security risks. And, as those supply chains evolve to be as much about the flow of information as they are about the flow of goods and services, protecting them becomes an increasingly complex, evolving function. In this session, you’ll hear what steps your company should be taking to secure its supply chain against cyber-attacks, data breaches, and other threats.

  • Session 5
Edge IoT Can Make Your Packages Talk!

    Joe Speed

    ADLINK Technology

    Monday: 3:30PM - 4:30PM
    Location: Innovation Hub P1

In the fast-changing world of IoT, the supply chain has never been in a better position to become fully intelligent, and it’s much easier than it may seem with Edge Computing. At this session, you’ll learn how living on the edge allows legacy equipment, IoT-enabled material handling systems, back-end IT, operations technology, cloud vendors, analytics, logistics partners, customers, and mobile devices to “talk” to one another to help you transform the end-to-end supply chain into a highly-optimized, intelligent business asset.

  • Session 6
Leverage Predictive Analytics to find the Perfect Clients, Employees, and Operational Solutions

    Wallace Ryland

    Capgemini

    Tuesday: 10:15AM - 11:15AM
    Location: Innovation Hub P1

What if predictive analytics could tell you when lubricant needed to be applied before that critical piece of equipment screeched to a halt? Or better than that, how about giving you the magic wand to find the perfect client, employee, and process which allows you to wash, rinse and repeat on an industrial scale? As the analysis used to make predictions about unknown future events, predictive analytics uses data mining, statistics, modeling, machine learning, and Artificial Intelligence to analyze current data and make predictions about the future. In this session, hear how you can drive your organization to adopt best practices by leveraging existing budgets to connect predictive analytics and transform your company to be future-centric.

  • Session 7
Taking IoT to the Next Level

    Dayan Rodriguez

    Dematic

    Tuesday: 11:30AM - 12:30PM
    Location: White Pines

We’re living on the cusp of a digital revolution, the likes we haven’t seen since the internet first came into our lives, and the Internet of Things (IoT) is standing firmly at the middle of that revolution. But grasping terms like IoT and Big Data isn’t always easy, nor is fully understanding how these innovations can help organizations improve processes, maximize labor, save money, and better serve customers. From this presentation, you’ll gain a better understanding of IoT’s role in the modern supply chain and learn how IoT-generated data can support your firm’s continuous improvement and profitability goals.

  • Session 8
    Big Data Integration 101

    Peter Hunnewell CPIM, PMP

    Michael Kors

    Dan Lawler

    Michael Kors

    Tuesday: 2:15PM - 3:15PM
    Location: Innovation Hub P1

Big Data projects often promise higher business returns and greater customer understanding, but who wants to have to go through a huge upgrade in order to optimize with this new technology? To cash in on the envious returns, increase fact-based decision-making, and develop better customer service offerings, companies are successfully integrating Big Data into their current systems. In this session, learn how and why you need to do this in order to provide decision-makers with a fast, trustworthy, and secure source of accurate, relevant information — right at their fingertips.
