Although it takes speed to win Formula One races, many people don’t know is that these races are also won or lost thanks to support from behind the scenes. Just ask David Coulthard, a Formula One driver who has enjoyed a long career driving for three of the most successful Formula One teams in the history—Williams, McLaren, and Red Bull Racing. When Coulthard stopped racing in 2008, he held the title of highest points scoring British Formula One driver of all time. Winner of 13 Grand Prix titles, Coulthard achieved 62 podium finishes during a long Formula One career that included races against world-class competitors like Michael Schumacher, Mika Hakkinen, and Fernando Alonso. Today, Coulthard is a broadcaster and commentator, initially with BBC Television and now at Channel 4, for which his own production company Whisper Films produces Formula One TV coverage in the UK.
