Effy Vayena

PROFESSOR AT ETH ZURICH FOR BIG DATA AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ETHICS

A Professor of Bioethics at the Swiss Institute of Technology, Effy Vayena is a renowned expert who stands at the intersection of medicine, data, and ethics. Her work focuses on important societal issues of data and technology and how they relate to scientific progress. Keenly interested in health policy, Vayena has worked with the World Health Organization (WHO) on ethical questions around reproductive medicine and research. She then helped establish and coordinate the PhD program in Biomedical Ethics and Law at the University of Zurich and was subsequently awarded a professorship by the Swiss National Science Foundation.
